When moving in a dorm room there are dozens of Pinterest boards and lists to remind you what to bring and inspire your decoration theme. What you most likely won’t remember are these items that will make dorm life easier and care-free for you.

1.Foldable drying rack
On-campus washers and dryers are notorious for breaking down, not working properly, and just taking all your quarters when you’re running low. Having a compact drying rack handy will allow you to fully air dry your clothes, instead of machine drying them, ready for when you next need them.

2. Steamer
As a follow up to the foldable drying rack, steamers are very useful if you don’t have the space for an ironing board and iron. These also come in useful when you have shirts that cannot be folded right before a big interview so keep that in mind.

Not only will this clip on to your bed and keep things from falling, it will also keep things organized so that you know where they are all the time. Charging cables, laptop, phone, notepad etc. Particularly if you raised your bed in your dorm room this will keep everything safe from falling down.

It’s not recommended for you to study in bed, but if you happen to be on your laptop then a reading pillow will both support your back, as well as keep you awake.

When you can’t find your phone charger but don’t want to turn on your main light, a clip lamp on your headboard or nightstand will do just the trick. These are usually inexpensive and adjustable to help you find just what you need without waking up your roommate.

Similar to the clip lamp, a touch lamp makes your life easier when trying to find that one specific item without turning on the main light. These can be found at Target for a relatively inexpensive price and can be turned on by pressing gently anywhere on the light – much easier than trying to find a switch or plug!
